All or Nothing + A Beautiful Melange Link-Up

Welcome, friends! Whitney and I are going to give it a go again with a new link-up, A Beautiful Melange. Actually, we are just bringing it back from February when we introduced it during Create28. Be sure to share your posts with us.

Thought I’d share a little of my heart today…

All or Nothing. Can you relate? I think I’m pretty much an all or nothing kind of girl. I function well with black/white, right/wrong, love/hate, day/night, etc. You know what I mean? I’m not always great in the grey areas or the waiting or holding pattern times. Sometimes I feel all is well in my world and then it’s just falling apart. My extremes seem radical and find their way focused on my circumstances. I tend to look at the cup as half empty instead of half full.

And then…God, the Lord, He just intervenes and rocks my world! Something little happens that reminds me of blessings and grace.

It went down like this:

I was running errands one day at lunch. On my way to make a Target run {they had bath towels on sale and kinda love the Threshold brand of towels and almost everything that Threshold creates}. On my little journey a song from my iPod started playing. It’s not a new song but it started to get me teary-eyed. Keith Urban released But for the Grace of God several years ago and I instantly loved the song. As I listened it wasn’t all the lyrics that captured my attention but a few words {grace of God}. Grace – the unmerited favor of God. My mind started replaying the simple grace that I had recently experienced.

  • A phone call right before lunch with the property manager of our town home where she expressed sadness that we would be moving. She considered us good tenants.
  • The leasing agents who are working diligently to find someone to take over our lease so we can vacate early without penalty.
  • The leasing agent who let me know she had been praying for me because a little while back she recognized my countenance was down.
  • Finding an interim place to live for a few months while our home is being built.
  • Finally, signing the contract to build a new home.
  • Spending time at a baby shower for a young woman who lived with for two years. Celebrating the first baby for her and her husband.
  • Seeing lots of old friends at the shower and being able to catch up.
  • Being totally spoiled by co-workers who think my job is important when I think it is not.
  • Having a really great friend and co-worker…and we even dress the same some days.
  • Reading a book that began to connect some dots in my life.
  • And the list could go on….the grey areas that are filled with grace and remind the glass is most definitely half full.

I tend to forget that God is at work in my life. I easily base “things going my way” as God is at work for me. But that is not necessarily true. Instead He is at work even when things are rough. When they are sweet it is definitely easier to see Him {in my opinion} but He is always there even when I see only the extremes. It’s not always or really just black or white.  His Word says this:

…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6

Lest, I forget…pictures area a great reminder of God’s grace at work in my life.

A friend that dresses like you after you text her this selfie saying, “This is what I’m wearing today because I know you have the same sweater”.

Twinning Thursday for the win!

That moment when you and your work bestie dress the same. Well I did text her before she left home to say what I was wearing because we have some of the same pieces. Today is twinning Thursday. #ootd outfits #outfitoftheday #outfitinspiration #twinning #cardigan #style #styleinspiration #workwearstyle #workwear #workwearfashion

This book is rocking my world regarding friendships. I’m participating in a book club which you can find here. It’s not too late to join in!

And here’s to Keith who got this post started and inspired me with this song.

I’m also posting today and participating in a blog hop with my friends at the The Blended Blog about May Flowers and Pretty Things. Hope you’ll read that post too!

Get ready….share your posts!
