Blazing the Blazer Path + Link-Up

Hello Monday! Welcome back to another link up and a place to find some style inspiration and make new friends through our link up.

As I continue to work toward building a capsule wardrobe, I wanted to add a blazer. I found this one right before I took on a shopping ban for the first three months of this year. Today I am styling the blazer in three different ways.

Since I tend toward casual looks that will cross from work to life outside of work this first look seemed to hit the mark on both ends.

blazer&sweaterThis look simply includes those forever favorite dark was skinny jeans, a v-neck sweater, tweed blazer, a statement necklace + leopard print sneakers to add a little pattern and keep it simple. This look could easily become a uniform for me. So easy and yet put together.

The next look includes those standard basics which we probably all own. Repeating with the dark wash jeans and replacing the sweater with another v-neck. It’s the white tee this time.

blazer+scarf

Simple and easy? Yes! I changed out to booties because the tee is super casual and wanted to change the look a bit. I rarely wear this scarf so I wanted to give it a spotlight moment but another scarf would add more of a color pop.

jacket&scarf

The third look is a little more dressy and features a favorite blouse that made the purging cut. I have always loved blouses that tie and/or turtleneck type looks {especially with a bun}.

Why did this blouse make the cut? Well, here are a couple looks from last winter that I featured. I think it’s a piece that is “me” and is able to cross lines for versatility. It’s a keeper!

BlazerCollageDo you have a blazer or two in your closet? If so, do you find it to be a versatile piece for you? I think this blazer has endless possibilities for me. I think I might have found a substitute for my cardigan love.

And since it’s Monday, it’s time for our link-up. Thanks to everyone who joined in last week. Whitney, Casey and I enjoyed reading your posts and searching for our favorite looks. Can’t wait to see what you lovely ladies link up this week.

Each week we choose a favorite…check out Casey & Whitney’s blogs to see if it’s you! My favorite this week is a post by Lauren from Earth to Style entitled Wrap Coat. Lauren featured a gorgeous blush coat and paired it with black. I adore that combo. She has a fun blog and I hope you’ll stop by and read her post here.

  • Love that blazer, it’s perfect on you. Always love how you style the same thing different ways! Great ideas.

    • When I do that, I’m reminded that I don’t need as many clothes as I have right now. Eye opening!

      • I’m sure it is! Right now I’m having an internal battle with myself, there are something things in my closet I should get rid of but fell like I haven’t gotten enough wear, yet I never grab for it…ya know?

  • Casey

I love how that blazer looks on you! The fit is awesome! I have tried blazers and they always just feel too formal on me! I tried a cotton blazer that I liked but then couldn’t justify the price..i don’t know! I need to keep looking! I agree it;s a very polished looks! Love it with the sneakers! XOXO
