What’s Bringing Me Joy

Earlier this week I read a great post {here} at Hall Around Texas and as I poked around Crystal’s blog I found a fun little link-up about joy. Since I’ve been struggling lately to find some positive in my life I thought it would be a good exercise for me to focus on what is bringing me joy right now. I might have to dig deep but here goes in the random order which they came to my brain!

Right after Labor Day weekend my husband and I loaded the truck and headed north to visit my parents in Iowa. I have to say I cannot remember a better trip home! I saw so many people and things plus the weather was gorgeous. I truly hated to leave. These are only a few of my people that I was able to see but grateful for every minute I was able to spend with them.

The 21 Days of Beauty has been going on at Ulta. I decided to drop by and see if I could find some deals. Well, I found some $3.00 lipstick. I thought what the heck, why not? Who knew I would find a matte lipstick that I love. I made a trip back and bought several different shades. This red one is totally giving me joy right now! New lipstick is the perfect pick me up!

Alright, I have to confess…I was reading a blog and I cannot find the post now to give the blogger credit but I was introduced to a new app. It’s called First 5. Through the app I’ve started to read the study called Suffering and Sovereignty, which is based on Job, Lamentation and Ecclesiastes. Day 1 included this graphic. The words spoke to my heart and I needed to hear this truth. Hope you’ll try the app. It has several different studies and even groups to connect with others. Best part = it’s FREE!

I’m hosting a new style challenge with several others bloggers. It’s called Common Threads Challenge and anyone can participate. You can read it about here. Please read the post and join us on October 1.

Sunday we had dear friends over for lunch. It was a little Tex-Mex feast. We stopped by the local Mexican market and picked up all the best fixing like marinated meat, fresh hot tortillas, salsa verde and guacamole. It was all delicious and the company was fabulous. My dear friend Lauren and her hubby were our guests. I wrote about her and our friendship here.

I hope you have things that are bringing you joy right now! This verse is a great reminder of what I need to remember daily. I hope it encourages you as well.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. ~ Romans 12:12

Have a beautiful weekend. Enjoy the life you have!
