Stripes - Part III

Guess what? Yes, I have more stripes in my wardrobe! Guess what else? I have a friend who blogs at Confessions of a Frumpy Mommy and she writes these fantastic posts on Monday called Monday in a Minute. Today I am writing one of those minute posts because my plan to have my final finished on Sunday didn’t really work out according to plan. So here it is Wednesday and I still need to finish. Hence, Wednesday…in a minute.

Thought I would finish up with a few more options with stripes. Since I work in a business casual environment, these are looks I would probably wear to the office.

Summer Remix Challenge - Week 4

It’s hard to believe this the last Monday in July! Summer is a roll…rolling away that is to school starting up again and then fall. Sadly, I haven’t even had the opportunity to go to the lake or even wear a swimming suit yet. Lots of things have been occupying my time but getting near water has not been one of them, which I find very unfortunate.

Since it’s Monday that means it’s time to post some outfits for the Summer Remix Challenge at Greater than Rubies. Honestly, I cannot believe how many outfits one can create out of 20 pieces. I really think I need to spend some time just creating outfits from my original 20 pieces because I will surely have more than 30. I find that so exciting! Makes me realize more and more that I still have way too many clothing pieces in my closet at this point.

Here’s what I have to post this week. Again, trying the selfies but using a different camera this time. Again, a work in progress - thank you for your patience, friends!

Also, “stealing” from Valerie at The Style-Files with her idea to post one piece several ways. That was my inspiration anyway and did it a little differently.

Part II {Casual Wear}

20140430_064516#120140430_064516#120140430_064516#1Wednesday is here again! Last week I shared one of my new loves - stripes. Since this particular look is so versatile and new to me, I thought I would have a Part II. Today I’m sharing a few more looks from my wardrobe which incorporate stripes.

First up is a black and white 3/4 length sleeve top. I have found this top easy to wear and easy to style in several ways. I wasn’t sure if I would like it with a sweater but once I put it on, I loved it. It is also great with denim jacket and solo. Check it out and let me hear your opinions. Do you have a preference of the three looks?

Next up is a little orange/yellowish and white striped tee. Here it is with that grey cardigan but it surely could fly solo or with a little scarf accessory. Boyfriend jeans because they are just so comfy and a little more leopard print is typically a good thing!

Here’s the little blue and white striped tee from last week. Honestly, I love this top and have found myself wearing it in so many ways. Same cardigan as last week but just added a scarf and boyfriend jeans.

Remember the blue and white striped tee from last week? Here it is again with the green cardigan and a scarf - boyfriend jeans + neutral flats

Do I have more stripes in my wardrobe? The answer is yes! I have a few more tops that are more appropriate for workday attire as opposed to the casual wear styled here. Will there be a Part III of stripes? Maybe…maybe not. Hope you tune in next week and find out.

Have a lovely day, friends!

Summer Remix Challenge - Week 3

Another Monday in July, which makes me wonder, “Why is summer going by so quickly?” I cannot believe this is the third week of the Summer Remix Challenge at Greater than Rubies any more than I can believe that August is right around the corner. Unbelievable!

This week was a fail for outdoor pictures with the hubby. He was busy getting gear ready for military training and was trying to work on school work. {Who takes courses in the summer anyway…I must be crazy}! I know I have written before about my lighting challenges at our home. That little issue caused me to great a creative. I purchased a mirror to place outside and take selfies. This helps so much because the hubs is gone to work before I get dressed and I change at work before going to the gym in the afternoon. Sometimes I may or may not fold my clothes nicely in a moment to get to the gym quickly + I just don’t want to put those clothes back on when I get home.

I ended up using the mirror outside but also discovered it would hang on a closet door in the bathroom. Amazing!! I now have options. So here you go…week 3 in color. I have to give a shout out to Valerie @ The Style Files because I kinda used her idea of styling a certain piece with several options. This is total flattery, Valerie!

Stripes - Part I

Why do I love stripes? First, they are somewhat new to me. Until I started participating in styling challenges, I didn’t really wear stripes or floral or plaid or prints or polka dots…you get the picture. Almost my entire wardrobe was basics and neutral basics at that. I think that can be a little boring especially after I have discovered a whole new world that has variety. Variety makes remixing the pieces you have much more fun. I have discovered that stripes are very versatile which now makes them a staple in my wardrobe. One of my favorite tops is this little blue and white stripe tee. I have styled here in a few different ways. The color is a great shade of blue. Every time I wear this tee, I feel a little pretty and I think it is because the shade of blue is one of my better colors and it just pops.

What about you? What colors pop on you or make you feel pretty or excited to face the day? Colors {and patterns} matter to us ladies wouldn’t you agree? Love to hear your thoughts and input.
