Create28~Day 28 A New Favorite Go-To Look

Happy, Saturday friends! Here it is the end of the month and the end of Create28. Wow, it’s hard to believe today brings a wrap of this series. It has been a month of learning and growing for me and hope it has been the same for you too. I have loved seeing your looks each week and on Instagram. I can’t wait to see what you put together for the recap on Monday. I’m planning to feature my favorite looks and a rundown of what I have learned. I hope you’ll do the same.

My look today falls right into that vein of what I’ve learned during this month. For much of 2014, I found myself wearing and pursuing the addition of skinny jeans into my wardrobe. I do like skinny jeans but through this challenge I rediscovered my love of trousers. Although they have had a special place in my looks for quite some time prior to 2014, I found that in the last year I was not remembering to style them very often. In 2014, I was styling looks through various challenges, but not necessarily creating looks that defined me. What that means is I was creating looks but all of those looks weren’t necessarily me and in the end I probably won’t wear them again. This year I want to be intentional to wear those pieces that truly embody my style and what allows me to feel look and feel lovely. Throughout Create28, I had a goal to create looks that forced me to use the pieces in my closet and create looks that were truly me because then I will actually wear those pieces and those looks. I feel as though I did accomplish that task.

This new go-to look is totally me. It embodies elements that make me feel confident. I have fallen hard again for my trousers and love how I feel when I wear them. The polka dot blouse has been a go to favorite for months and that has not changed one bit. I just began wearing the jacket during this challenge and I have found many options for this piece. One funny little note that I discovered as I put this look together, both of my go-to looks center around polka dots and leopard print. I think if you continue to follow along, you might see more dots and leopard print in the near future. This look also incorporates some pattern mixing which is another way I feel put together and confident. In the end this look incorporates all the elements that define a style that is me. I hope this is something you worked on during Create28 too.

Here it is - my new go-to look. We snapped these pictures yesterday afternoon while we were receiving a snow fall here in NTX. I thought it would be fantastic to capture these in the beautiful moment of snow. We received ice earlier in the week, which is a true nightmare in this part of the country but snow is always beautiful. As it fell it was a gorgeous sight and relaxing as well. Thankful I was able to take vacation and leave work early to avoid slick streets….and snap these pictures, too!

Create28~Day 27 A Leggings Look

One of the best parts of winter is wearing leggings. For me that means cozy sweaters or tunics, boot sock and boots. When the weather is cold I find this look is oh so comfy and warm. My favorite legging look for the season is the one I wore for Super Bowl Sunday watching party. Again, I guess I’m totally in love with blue lately because this look is all about blue. It really is a comfy sweater and the color of blue is bright and most likely a good match for most skin tones.

Here’s the first look without the vest, which I added for more warmth because it was a chilly day on Super Bowl Sunday.

Well, friends, the end of the series is tomorrow. The look is to create your new favorite go-to look. I had a couple in mind as I have thought this over but I decided on one. Go ahead and create more than one if you like and post them on Instagram #Create28BLovely.

See you tomorrow for the last day of Create28. Have a lovely day, friends!

Create28~Day 26 Style a Different Print

Today I decided to create a simple casual outfit with a floral blouse. Guess what? I’m mixing some blue and green together again. Not sure how I got into blue and green as a go-to color combination but it certainly has taken front and center in my wardrobe lately. This is a wonderful change from the black on black on black that was a staple in my closet for years. The addition of color was a nice change that took place in my wardrobe in 2014. Patterns, prints and color have moved in and squeezed out the black. I mean it’s still there but it has lost its place of prominence and daily wearing. Thankful for that change too!

Here’s a simple casual look that I would easily throw on for a Saturday to run errands or out to a quick bite to eat on Friday evening.

Can’t wait to see your different prints, friends! Maybe you’ll be more brave than me and mix some different prints together.

Tomorrow the look is leggings. How do you wear your leggings? What is your favorite look? For me, this is the best week for leggings because we are totally having a winter blast in Texas.

Have a lovely day, friends!

Create28~Day 25 Pin It & Did It Look

If you have been following along for this series, you know I spend a little time on Pinterest. I really like to read posts where bloggers style a look they found and loved while perusing Pinterest. I wanted to try that myself so I found a few favorites but decided on the one I’m styling today. This look features the infamous blanket scarf from this winter season. It also incorporates pattern mixing. I have loved all the plaids I have seen during the winter season and I especially like it when they are mixed with stripes. Unfortunately, my plaid blouses have not been the type that can mix well with a lot of other pieces but this look is a little reversal of the plaid and utilizes a plaid scarf rather than a plaid blouse.

Here’s the original look and my inspiration.

My look isn’t exact. I changed a few things but focused more the mix of stripes with the plaid scarf.

I hope you find tons of great looks on Pinterest to pin and try now or later. It’s so easy to keep a board of great looks to try and be inspired to help with creativity.

Tomorrow the prompt is to style a different print. Maybe floral or gingham or paisley or something you have in your closet that you haven’t tried a new way before.

Can you believe there are only a couple more days until the end of Create28? If you’re like me then you have come up with more than just 28 looks. Just a reminder that Monday, March 2nd will be the recap and the final link up.

Have a lovely day, friends!

Create28~Day 24 Spring Transition Look

Spring! Is it on your mind? It’s on lots of people’s minds right about now, I’m sure. I think the NE has had their fill of winter as well as the Mid-West. In North Texas we almost made it through the winter season without a wintry mix. Almost but not quite! I’m not complaining because the upside was I had an ice day off work on Monday. Although we have had a somewhat mild winter in regards to precipitation, I’m still thinking Spring. I’m ready for some bright colors and pastels.

For today’s looks I simply wanted to put together an easy look that could transition as the temperatures warm up without jumping into that Spring wardrobe. Soon those days will be here and it will be all about Spring and Summer looks but today is not that day. Instead I’ve chosen a wintry piece to mix with a springy piece. My spring transition outfit implements those burgundy skinny jeans with a bright green top and a floral scarf. The top is light and flowing and leaving it untucked is something I haven’t done before with this top or while wearing these skinny jeans. This particular top seems to hit me in the right place, which made me try it untucked {and I liked it}. I added the floral scarf because I just think spring and florals go together.

Spring Transition

Since in most places it’s not Spring yet, why not go to your closet and come up with a transition look or looks for Spring? Hopefully, it will give you something to have ready when the temps warm up just a little.

Tomorrow the look will be a Pin It and Did It look. I’m sure you can tell by now, I like Pinterest. It’s a great way to get lots of inspiration.

I pinned a few Spring outfits here. Hope that brings a little sunshine into your day.

Have a lovely day, ladies!
