One thing I have come to love in the last year is pattern mixing. One reason I really like to mix my patterns is because it gives so much variety to what I already have in the closet. More outfits appear as I mix patterns together.
In the beginning, I found it easier to mix patterns with the same colors. For example, this is the concept I’m using for my post today. Both outfits that I have styled are utilizing black and white. I have a little pop of color in both looks but I basically stuck with the two color theme. These looks are incorporating pattern mixing that is more bold. I would have shied away from that type of mixing but over time I have come more comfortable with wearing. I actually really like to wear more prominent prints together now. Bold vs. subtle is something to work through as you delve into mixing your patterns.
Although I didn’t show a look with multiple colors, that is something I like to try too. Maybe mixing a pink gingham blouse with red and blue plaid scarf is one example. Or if you had a black and white polka dot blouse you could try the same plaid scarf. It’s quite a bit of experimenting to see what goes and what you like. Our tastes might be different and I have found many times that what sounds good in my hate doesn’t translate on my body. Guess what? That’s totally okay because learning your style is a process, friends. Don’t give up!
For my first look I mixed plaid and houndstooth. Although those prints could look a bit crazy together, I added a sweater to calm it down a bit and just have a hint of the two patterns. I think you could wear the blouse either way - tucked or untucked based on preference.

The second look is a little more bold especially once the jacket is removed. Two great prints that work together. My inspiration for this look was found on Pinterest. You can see it here.

Would a little more assistance be great for this prompt? Need more looks? Head over here and I have board for you to peruse on Pinterest.
Tomorrow the post is going to be Spring Transitions. Creating a look that might look a little more springy might be the perfect thing to try during these long winter months. Think color!
Here’s my recap of favorite looks from last week. Now it’s the final stretch…the last week of Create28. Next Monday will be the final recap of the series. I have been thinking about all I have learned through this challenge and can’t wait to share that with you. I’m also looking forward to hearing from you about what you learned or how you might have grown your style through this challenge.
Have a lovely day, friends!
