an outfit that wasn’t + link-up

Wednesdays are the best day! Linking up with my sweet blogging friends at The Blended Blog for Spring Fever Fashion. Be sure to add your post with us today!

Tell the truth, friends! How many times have you put an outfit together in your head and thought you liked it. But you didn’t actually put it on until the last-minute and then it’s too late to change. Not only am I raising my hand but both hands. Why do I do this? Why do I do this on Mondays? The one day that I really need to feel pretty and put-together because duh…it’s Monday!

Sunday evening I had this idea for a look. I got everything ready for the work the next day and put all the pieces into my car. Why? Well, I don’t dress for work in my car but I have been known to change clothes in the car…another story for later though. But I have been going to the gym with my husband in the morning before work so we can lift weights together and that’s after I do a little cardio with Tony and 22 Minute Hard Corp. After we finished our weights I left the gym and headed for work where I would change clothes. And then….I put on these pieces.

And then I hated it. Why? I’m not sure if it’s the pattern in the skirt or the color combo or the length of the skirt but I just felt off all day.

I am a little bit of a sucker when it comes to cardigans and I thought this one would nice for Spring + it’s really in the “Greenery” vein. You know the Pantone Color of the Year! Who could wrong when wearing the color of the year, right?

Well, it’s not the green cardigan but I do think it’s the skirt.

Friends, be encouraged! We all have bad style days. It’s not the end of the world. It’s an opportunity to learn more about what you love and don’t love. Sometimes you can just “feel” off even if you don’t look off. Bad style days also give you the opportunity to examine pieces and decide if they are a stay or go piece. Bad days are good days to grow. Grow in style and grow in showing yourself grace!

Regardless, seize the day even when you think you don’t look your best. You only get one today!

I also wanted to share that April 1 I’m sending out devotionals for 10 days. If you’re interested in getting them in your inbox leave me your email address in the comments and I’ll add you to the list.

Be sure to add your post to the link-up, friends!

Have a STYLISH day!

Carrie ~ xoxox

Thank you for hosting. Cute skirt! I think it looks great! www.vanityandmestyle.com
    • Thank you! I appreciate your input. :)
  • Savvy Southern Chic
I think it looks great but I've had those days too when I just didn't feel right in something.
  • Amy
Hi Carrie, I love all of the pieces, but by the photograph, it seems like the cardigan and skirt are in different shades of green. I love that you share so honestly. We all have those days. Also, I'd love to join the devotionals. Is there a more private way to share emails than here?
    • Hi Amy! Thank you for stopping by today. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] and I'll add you to the devotional list.

I do think our moods affects how we view an outfit, Carrie. Because I really think this looks nice. I would never consider this a failed outfit. But I have learned (especially when going on a trip) to try on every outfit that I want to take. Because for some reason, how it looks together on the hanger, is not how it looks on my body--ha ha! jodie www.jtouchofstyle.com
    • The traveling...I have made that mistake too, Jodie! Hope you've had a great week!
  • Kandy French Donnelly
I think it looks great. I don't think shades have to match exactly anymore to look "put together". Having said that, I know we have to feel comfortable with what we wear BUT I love the outfit.
    • Thank you, sweet Kandy! I hope you're having a great week!
  • Christy
This happens to me all the time. I look at myself in the mirror at work and don't love it, but I don't have a choice, I have to wear it! I personally think the outfit looks great!
    • Exactly, right! I have to wear it...makes for a LONG day!
  • I think that happens to all of us...I don't think it looks as bad as you think. It's probably that the sweater is a bright green and the skirt a dark? Not sure, but still looks good.
    • I'm not sure either but of all the pieces I do love the green. I think I need to move away from black a little bit as the season is changing.
  • I do this too! Even though I don't think this outfit is bad at all! We're our worst critics. :) Brooke Pumps and Push-Ups
    • We are really hard on ourselves, aren't we. Thanks, Brooke!

Ohhh add me add me!! [email protected]! Also, I completely understand this post! I'll have an outfit picked out and put it on the next morning for it to feel completely wrong. That also happens with the blog in general. Or I'll wear something I feel off in but end up loving the pictures. I'm actually a big fan of that cardigan and skirt together, it's a flattering shape of skirt on you!
    • Thank you, Emily! You're the sweetest!
  • I actually love this look Carrie! But I totally get it--that happens to me all the time. Or, I'll put on an outfit that I think looks great, but when I see it in pictures I hate it... live and learn I guess!
  • Awww I love the skirt! Totally know how you feel about looking off though – I've gotten lazy and been dressing down for work a lot lately. Can't wait for the weekend so I can put some more interesting outfits together! Arielle from Casual 'n Couture

I love that skirt on you and I love this look.
  • i really like this look but totally get the whole hating things sometimes after you've put them on and take some pictures
    • Thanks, friend! The camera doesn't lie!
  • Your bad style days are prettier than my good ones :)! I think this outfit is very pretty on you - feminine, and such lovely colors. But I know what you mean, and if you aren't feeling it, it doesn't matter what any body else thinks!
    • Not true my stylish friend! You have great style!
  • I love this look. I have so many outfits that I feel like this one day. I sometimes take pictures right after I get dressed to see what I look like and look at it with a different pair of eyes. http://www.mylittlenest.org
    • Great idea! I need to do that more often....before I leave the house!
  • Nicole Mölders
Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style. The skirt is so cool!
  • I really like this look!!!! Jaymie
  • Caitlin
I actually love that outfit! Stopping over from the linkup - hope you can pop by my blog too! http://www.confessionsofanorthernbelle.com/2017/03/friday-favorites-74/

I like the skirt too! It looks great with the black top. Did you try your favorite Mustard sweater? Maybe you aren't crazy about the two greens? Just a thought ; ) xxoo Susan
    • That's a good point, Suzy! I had to let my fave sweater go...little bitty holes in it. So bummed! :(
  • I have days like that too where i'm just not feeling it! I think this outfit is really pretty on you! I love the print of your skirt! Jill Doused In Pink
  • Alison @ Puppies & Pretties
Yep, this happens to me quite often. I'm a big fan of your skirt though!
  • Gigi Sliger
I actually clicked in your link because I loved the outfit! I think it's a creative combination that works together well. So pretty!
    • Thanks so much, Gigi! I was encouraged by your comment!
  • I really do like the individual pieces! But I think it might be something about the proportions together that is off. I can't quite put my finger on it. I feel like every time I plan an outfit in advance this happens to me. I'm just a morning outfit creator I guess!
