It’s time to share My Happiness Project update for February. Since February is the month of love, I wanted to focus on love and/or relationships during these 28 days.
During the month of February, I felt more present and focused on life in general. I worked on being present with My 12 Commandments. The month opened with a bang and during the first week, I felt a few big hits both positive and negative.
The positive: I received a couple of notes via snail mail from ladies that said they were praying for me. I was super encouraged especially since I saw the hand of the Lord working to have those appear in my mailbox at the perfect time.
The negative: One of my aunts passed away unexpectedly on February 6th. I wasn’t able to travel home for the funeral due to the weather. Two days later my on again/off again relationship with my daughter became an off again. Painful and not my choice but life can be painful. It was a rough week but still included rays of hope from the Lord.
My top five of how My Happiness Project progressed during February:
{ONE *Seek out and Respond to Community; *Be grateful and giving}
Since I struggle with being grateful and thoughtful, I was intentional to send out some cards to a few people. Some were simply a hello and others were more reconciliation in nature because I’d let some friendships fall by the wayside. I also want to be intentional to seek out the community so pieces of those commandments were wrapped up together.
{TWO *Be Carrie}
Since I have been an avid workout woman for the last 8+ years, 2018 has been a struggle for me. Between sickness and unplanned stuff popping up, I have rarely made it to the gym. I tried to get back on the horse of exercise after weeks of being way too sedentary. I can’t remember feeling this weak but part of being me is to conquer the fitness challenge. It’s a work in progress for sure!
{THREE *Accept new challenges}
I pulled a Gretchen Rubin and picked up a couple of magazines. Willow & Sage and Magnolia Journal. I picked Willow & Sage because it included recipes and instructions to make some of my own scrubs, soaps, and lotions. I thought that might be fun and provide great little gifts as I try to be more intentional with others. I chose Magnolia because, well anything JoJo has got to be good.
Then I received the IKEA catalog in the mail. That led to a trip there on a rainy Saturday to just browse. That trip led to this…a new challenge for 2018 has been to decide on some updates in our home. This kitchen inspired us. Will this be our kitchen? Ummm…no but inspiration is what I needed to help push me along in order to make a decision.
{FOUR *Seek out and Respond to Community}
I had applied for a mentor with my church. I have been feeling as though I needed someone for one on one accountability. I received a call during February and had been paired with an older lady in my church. We have met once and I’m super excited for what the future holds with this relationship.
{FIVE *Live in the Present, not the Past}
If you read my weekly posts on Thursday about Marriage {here}, then you know my husband and I are trying to work through some issues and fine tune our marriage. Re|engage is helping me work through issues so I can live in the present and not the past.
{BONUS}
The main struggle for me this month has been to *Act the way I want to feel. When I’m in a funk and there were plenty during February, I just act the feel not the way I want to feel. Big difference and it takes effort to be tune in to making that happen. So far this has been one of my biggest struggles. *Don’t make Assumptions has typically been something that’s difficult for me but since this became a commandment I am more aware of when I’m making assumptions. AND I do it A LOT. *Only I can make a make a name for myself has began to give me courage to start thinking about a new direction for the future.
Of course, I read a few books and listened to audiobooks as well. I’ll be posting about those soon {next Tuesday}. We celebrated my hubby’s birthday, went out to eat, bought a new purse and a few items for Spring…you know the everyday life. I got dressed for work everyday M-F and posted to Instagram. I started selling LipSense and became addicted. Want some? Okay, let me know so we can share in the addiction together. LOL To be continued…
Here’s the LipSense proof! My favorite color Blu-Red.
Have a beautiful weekend, friends!
