A Time for Leggings + Link-Up

Welcome back to another week of Style Perspectives with The Blended Blog. If you stopped by last week you might remember the prompt was plaid. Everyone did it up so well and here’s the proof.

The prompt this week is courtesy of Katie from The Mishaps and Mayhem of the Solitary Life. It’s a leggings and scarf kinda week here with my friends and sisters in style. Don’t forget to stop by The Blended Blog to see Katie in her featured look today.

I have a little confession. You might think I’m crazy but I rarely wear leggings. I did not even wear them once during the past colder months. When I think back further to 2015, I remember wearing them once - to a Super Bowl party. So do you know what that means? It means I own like zero tunics which are the lovely counterpart to leggings. So what’s a girl gonna do? Never fear I have some flashbacks and throwbacks to share.

Here’s my colder weather looks featuring scarves and leggings. These are all I could find! And while I’m being honest and confessing, I have to admit that just don’t like myself in leggings. I feel super self-conscience rather than comfy and cozy. Therefore I avoid them for the most part. Thanks for letting me be honest and now the reveal.

Another confession…because it’s good for the soul, friends. I no longer own any of these pieces. I didn’t love them so I let them go as I’ve been purging over time. When I take in these looks I can honestly say these outfits do not really define my style. Having a flashback/throwback moment makes me appreciate how far I’ve come in my understanding and embracing my own style. If you are struggling in that area, keep at it because it’s worth knowing yourself. You’ll be glad you took the time to develop your style and wear things you love. I promise!

The weekly prompts are listed below along with the blogs to click on and see how everyone styled their leggings and a scarf look. Be sure to add your link as well.

14 bloggers each picked a look that defined their personal style.
The featured blogger on the Blended Blog showcases her signature style (the prompt for that day) and then the other bloggers (on their personal blogs) show how they interpret it.
Make sure you stop by the Blended Blog to see the featured lady.

  • You have fabulous legs and I think you look great in leggings! xo Sheree http://poshclassymom.com IG: @poshclassymom

You are seriously adorable in anything!! You could wear a potato sack and make it look chic!! Go have a wonderful day beautiful friend!!
    • You are the sweetest!
  • Leggings aren't something I wear a lot either!! :) but they are so comfy!!
    • I agree about the comfy part but after seeing all the print leggings I might have to rethink my stance.
  • Nicole Miller
I love your honesty here! It's still a great look, and I love tall boots:)
  • I love seeing the pieces you got rid of and hearing your truths!
    • Thank you, friend! Sometimes I wish I would have kept a piece or two but it's all good.
  • Too funny! We shared the exact same sentiments in our posts today! I like leggings but I just don't own enough tunics!
    • Great minds think alike, right?!
  • I have the SAME problem!!! Apparently me, you and Whitney need to do some serious tunic shopping asap! Simply Shaunacey
    • That will happen in 2017!!
  • Christy
Very interesting how many of you don't wear leggings. I must admit that I don't wear them that often as I feel I am cheating by wearing pants that are so comfortable. With that being said, I have a large selection of leggings that often come out after work and on weekends.
    • I might be the crazy one that always slips into a pair of shorts after work. Yep, even in the winter and I had knee socks. That's my leggings - shorts + knee socks. Is that crazy?
  • Oh my goodness that picture makes you look 6 feet tall :) And I need to do some tunic shopping too, I own 2 maybe 3 if I really tried. Actually I tried with a shirt that I thought was long enough, took the pictures and then when I went back YIKES! Had to delete all of them they were that bad...

I used to wear leggings but don't anymore, except for when I'm running. I prefer wearing skinny jeans now as they pull me in a bit more! I do like some of the thicker leggings (or are they jeggings?) particularly the coated ones that have a subtle metallic effect. Emma xxx style-splash.com
    • I think I'm with you on the skinny jeans. Great point!
  • I love that you shared honestly how you feel about certain looks. It's certainly not because you don't look good because you look FABULOUS in this look! And it's pictures like these that made me think you were tall! ~Sheila Making the Most of Every Day
  • You look so pretty in that purple color. I rarely wear leggings - the only time I wear leggings is when I go rollerblading. They are just not "me". I commend your honesty. We have to dress for who we are - and somethings are just not us - and that is okay. Lisa Daily Style Finds
    • Thanks, Lisa! I don't think they are me either. I do love purple though.
  • I love that you're so honest about your style and what you do/don't like. I need to do some of that work myself. Having said that, I do think you look very pretty in leggings!
    • Thank you, friend! You always encourage me.
  • But I do heart the shoes! And, like you, I'm on the fence about leggings. I love them on other women. And I love the comfy/coziness of the fleece lined ones on winter days but sometimes I feel like they're not work appropriate. I've started pairing them with dresses and tunics that look like shorter dresses, so that helps a lot. I think it's a matter of proportion. I like a super long top, so that nothing shows...
    • Great ideas about leggings and dresses. I might do that for work but like you, I wouldn't wear them to work either. Thanks for shopping by and hope you've had a great week!
  • Both of these are really great looks and very well put together. I like the layers and mix of colors. I also very rarely wear leggings, although I have started to like them a little more with boots.
    • Thank you, Jennie! I always appreciate your input.
  • I actually really like both looks on you, but you are so right, it's very important to figure out what clothes you are comfortable in and make you happy. And it's also important to let go of items that you don't love anymore... Something I have to work on! Andrea Andrea’s Wellness Notes
  • Way to make this prompt work! It was tough for me, too. I really don't like to wear leggings and not too sure I should be wearing them. I need to go back through my closet again and do a mini-purge. Feels so good!
    • You are so fine in wearing them, friend!
  • I love seeing when bloggers admit that things don't work for them. I know I've had those moments too. Those outfits though are super cute! Nina aworldofdresses.com
    • Thanks, Nina. It feels so good to be honest about what really works and what doesn't. I hope it encourages people!
  • Hello. Found you via Blended Blog but also follow your board on Pinterest. While I love leggings in all seasons, I think it's awesome when you are able to recognize what makes you feel good and what's in your closet because you paid a lot of money for it. Or it's the newest trend but it doesn't work for you. Or when you've had an item you love in your closet forever but maybe it's time to let it go. You have lots of great outfits.
    • So glad you shopped by and glad to hear you visit the Blended Blog. Thank you for following my board on Pinterest. I totally agree with what you've said here.
  • jess
Hi Carrie, joining in on the Blended Blog linkup today, albeit a bit late. I am just trying to keep track of everyone's linkups :-) I love the leggings on you, you have great legs so you can wear anything, the colors are lovely. I have done the same with some items of my closet and am selling things that I dont see myself wearing anymore. It does feel good. Have a wonderful day! jess xx www.elegantlydressedandstylish.com
    • So glad you joined in Jess! Hope you've had a great week!
  • As long as you don't miss any of those items, I think it's great you let them go if they're not working for you! I don't wear leggings either--I don't own many tunics and find I don't really feel comfortable in them. However I DO love ponte pants, which look similar to leggings but offer more coverage.
    • Ponte pants...yes! I do have a pair of those and haven't worn them in forever. I'm going to have to do that in the next cold season.
  • Alison @ Puppies & Pretties
I think it is so great what you have done with your closet and style. You have really figured it out and know where you stand style-wise!
  • Katie Mitchell
How did I miss this!! I love you in these looks!! BUT think it's totally great that you confessed to not having any of these pieces any more. I think it's so great that you have been parting with so much and working on a capsule!!
