Colored bottoms! Love that saying almost as much as I love pants with color. Y’all didn’t know me years ago but for most of my adult life I have worn lots of black. Black, brown or navy were about the only colors of pants that I ever owned. Enter year 2014 when I first truly discovered pants of color. Actually, 2014 was the year I finally embraced color all through my wardrobe. Life has definitely been more interesting with color {and patterns too, but more about that later}.
Not only do I really like colored pants but colored denim is at the top of my pant color love. I have discovered that army green or olive is a good base color. I never knew how versatile either one of those colors could really be until I actually owned a pair of them.
Since we have a had a little burst of warm weather in north Texas, I decided to feature skinny green denim with a print blue top. Mixing my prints here to give you a little idea of print mixing. There will be more of that later in this series but start thinking about mixing colors and patterns as we work through this month creating new great looks together.
Need a little color pants inspiration? Here’s a Pinterest board to help you with this look.
Remember the skinny colored denim from my favorite go-to look? There they are again only with a completely different look.
pardon the trash cans in the background…
One of the best options for colored bottoms {I think} is mustard. I have found that mustard is a very versatile color, which is something of a new breakthrough for me. I’ve got a bit of pattern mixing going on with this look. If this is something that scares you, I still want to encourage you to try it. Start small with just adding some print to an outfit you might not have done before now. Baby steps, friends! I promise mixing prints will change your life and extend your closet as well.
Alrighty then, friends! That’s a wrap for colored pants today. I know some of you love colored pants and others may not have ever tried them. Please know that’s okay, totally okay. Create from what you have in your closet. Maybe you can make a spin on this and try your color on top and more neutral on denim on the bottom. Make it work, ladies! Go try something on…just make it work! {Yes, I totally swiped that from Tim Gunn}!
Tomorrow it’s dots, polka dots. Love the dots and I hope you do too. Don’t forget you can show your looks on Instagram or FB page A Lovely Little Wardrobe. #Create28BLovely Have a lovely day, friends!
