Good morning, Lovlies! Today is the start of something new on the blog. As I have been thinking about changing a few things, I have decided to narrow my focus going forward. What that means is since I am definitely petite, over 50, mostly a classic style but love trends as well, I will be working to incorporate those elements more into the blog. I want to be able to remix my wardrobe for both work and non-work days and I want to incorporate those areas into what I style each week. During the week, I work in a business casual environment which typically can be easily transformed into a non-work casual outfits. This is an easy remix which means I can narrow the clothing items I need in order to have lots of versatility. I think that is exciting and allows for lots of creativity and options for outfits.
Today I’m highlighting one of those particular outfit mixes. For this Monday’s Mix, I am styling what I wore to church on Sunday and what I could wear to work on Monday with about zero extra effort or thought. The first outfit is a sleeveless top with a sweater and skinny jeans. Because it’s typically a little chilly in church, I wore the sweater. The second option is simply to remove the sweater and it’s perfect for warmer Texas weather in the summer.

And here is where it just gets simple for Monday morning. I could easily exchange the jeans for a pair of black dress pants and would be set to head to the office.

Easy, effortless and simple is what I think these outfits entail. Honestly, this type of look I could mix over and over again with several pieces in my closet. Although I like the concept of this outfit, I am a little disappointed in the finished product. The top is just a little big. It really has too much fabric. Typically, this can be an issue for me. I’m petite (short and a small frame) so fit is one area where I struggle in finding clothing. I have so often purchased things that just don’t fit all that well. My options with this top would be to have it tailored because it really is a great little top.
What about you? Fit issues? Is it frustrating for you to find pieces that fit you well?
Today, I want to remind you that the Work Your Work Wear Challenge at Get Your Pretty On is still open for late registration. If you have not participated in one of Alison’s challenges, I would encourage you take the plunge. It really is a fun learning experience.
Also, want to let you know that I’m going to be collaborating with Alex at Undergraduate Style for Fall Pantone Color Trends. On Tuesdays for the next 9 weeks we are going to style a color each week. Hope you follow along. You can read her first post {Royal Blue} in the series here.
