I am wondering when I stopped pattern mixing on a regular basis. I felt “like me” again when I put this look together. Thankful to The Blended Blog for posting the prompt and having the link up. Be sure to stop by and link up with us over at The Blended Blog.
I think the anatomy of a great pattern mixing look develops through the color palette. You really can’t go wrong with black and white. I don’t think you can ever go wrong with a buffalo plaid either. Mix those all up and it works.
I had been looking for a new buffalo plaid flannel. My previous one went bye-bye. If I remember correctly, the sleeves shrunk a little and that wasn’t working for me. I found this one at Old Navy and I realized it would be perfect because it could be untucked. Perfect for a school teacher.
This striped tee works well with the buffalo plaid because the stripes are not overstated. I’m not one for bold prints because they tend to overwhelm my frame. I realized this top was better than my white and black striped tee which has wider stripes. Again, proportion and color are key…but sweet readers you that!
Confession: I picked up these white distressed jeans at Old Navy too. Why? Because ironically I didn’t have any. I know…who doesn’t have white jeans?! Well, it’s not me anymore. I was inspired by Lana from My New Happy and a cute look she posted on Instagram. From there I saw these when I went to the store. Tried them on and they were totally comfortable. Instant purchase!
And there you go! An easy pattern mixed look that I’m totally in love with! This will be worn again and again! Now, I just need to keep Gracie from jumping on me during photo shoot time and any other time I’m in this white jeans. Wish me luck.
Y’all have the best day! Thanks for stopping by!
Hugs, Carrie
