TBB Asks: May Edition

Image uploaded from iOS (3)

It’s here! The first Monday of the month, which means it’s time for TBB Asks. This month it’s all about entertainment. Let’s get the party started.

1. Comedy or Drama ~ I enjoy both but here’s my disclaimers. I enjoy a comedy that makes me laugh but I’m not a fan of potty and gross sexual humor. (I’m not in Jr. High)! I enjoy drama but sometimes I have to get up and walk away when it gets really intense. I have lost count how many times I have seen Saving Private Ryan and sometimes I have to walk away during the invasion.

2. Fiction or Non-Fiction ~ I like both but I would pick non-fiction over fiction. I like to learn stuff.

3. Movies in theater or at home ~ I like to see new movies in the theater but will re-watch at home.

Movie Tavern

4. Musical or play ~ I have a soft spot for musicals even if they are hokey.

5. Favorite meal to eat out ~ All of them…but breakfast on Saturday mornings with my man is my most favorite.

6. Favorite book ever ~ The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom. Her family saved many Jewish people people during the occupation of Holland.

The Hiding Place by [Boom, Corrie Ten, Elizabeth Sherrill, John Sherrill]

7. Game night ~ We are not game players around here but when I used to be able to coax my family into a game of Chinese checkers I was mighty happy.

8. Favorite outside game or play ~ None that I can think of except I LOVED Red Rover when I was a kid. I didn’t like it if I was chosen last though. (insert sad face)

9. Favorit TV series ever ~ I cannot think of anything I have like more or been more emotionally attached except This is Us.

10. Sitcoms ~ I think I prefer the ones I watched growing up. Who can improve on The Brady Bunch or Gilligan’s Island?

11. Miniature Golf or Bowling ~ Bowling is where it’s at for me.

12. Favorite Movie Candy ~ Hmmm…we don’t usually eat candy at the movies but I would say Stawberry Twizzlers or M&M’s.

13. Popcorn ~ unbuttered but flavored salt or sprinkle cheese does it for me.

14. 3D ~ I have never seen a movie in 3D.

15. Favorite Book Genre ~ Historical fiction

I remember Red Rover too and Sarah mentioned that as well, lol!! Fun theme this month. xo, Kellyann
    • It was such a fun game to me. Totally, a fun theme!
  • Living on Cloud Nine
Yay another Sound of Music gal! This was so fun, ahhhh how I miss The Brady Bunch!
    • I loved The Sound of Music as a kid and I still love it. Never gets old.
  • Stacey Keeling
Oh yes I loved Gilligan's Island growing up. :)
    • It seems so wacky now but it was funny back in the day.
  • Pamela
I love historical fiction. Can you share some of your favorite authors?
    • I don't think I have authors (sadly). I do have favorite books though...many of which are children's lit from my teaching days. :)
  • We have so many similarities. None of the trashy sitcoms on prime time now compare with Gilligan and I Dream of Jeannie and My Mother the Car!! HA!! Saving Private Ryan is a movie I have watched and can continue to watch over and over. And Schindler's List. These days I am so forgetful that everything once familiar is brand new!
    • I tried to watch Schindler's List but could not get into it. That is so sad but true. It became interested after reading The Boy on the Wooden Box - recommended by Laura from The Horton Family.
  • Amanda
I loved The Aviator's Wife. I guess that was Fiction though, bummer. Ahhh This Is Us has been out of mind lately - I guess because the season ended early but yesssss!
    • I've got The Aviator's Wife on my saved list at the public library. Looking forward to reading it.
  • Twizzlers are my favorite, too and I love musicals! My best friend usually makes fun of me for how much I love them.
    • We were made to be friends! Hugs!
  • Yes to classics like the Brady Bunch! And I picked the Hiding Place as a favorite too!
    • That book always has a profound effect on me each time I read it.
  • Katie Mitchell
Totally writing The Hiding place down! Love books like that! Love that you put The Brady Bunch!! I loved that!!
    • The Hiding Place speaks to my heart every time I read it.
  • leaculp
Oh, yes, The Hiding Place for sure, I forgot about that. Ah, never thought about sprinkle cheese on popcorn. That sounds so yummy. I'll have to try it. And, how could I have forgotten about The Brady Bunch. Fun link up!
    • Such a great book and convicted when I think of their sacrifices.
  • Kasey Holloway
Oh my goodness, we used to play Red Rover at school but it got banned once a student broke their arm!
    • Oh my gosh! A broken arm. That is horrible.
  • POPCORN!! Also, your post made me realized that I completely forgot about This is Us... like what?! I'm also super emotionally invested in that show - weird lol
    • I am so emotionally invested too. I LOVE each character so much.
  • Sprinkled with cheese, hey?? Totally gotta try that.
  • The Brady Bunch brings back so many memories!
    • I know. That is so true!
  • Yes to Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Island, loved them both! And This is Us...oh how I love that show.
    • I wish This Is Us would be every week and not take a break. I never get tired of it.
      • I know, me too. Mr. can only take so much feelings at once. We are behind on episodes, lol. He says...I can't emotionally invest myself today in that show, lol.
  • I've never read The Hiding Place but I'll have to check it out. I also enjoy historical fiction, but enjoy learning things from non-fiction too. And I'm with you on dramas--sometimes I have to step away if it gets too intense!
