Happy New Year to you, friends! Welcome 2017 and what lies ahead I am not sure but I have set some broad goals for myself. Have you? I thought I would share what I want to focus on style wise.
First, I want to be content with my winter wardrobe and NOT WINE about what I wish I had. Honestly I am content with my pieces, but I can be tempted to want MORE. I love fall and winter style because there is an ease to layering and remixing and I hope this will help on my contentment journey. For the next three months {January-March}, I plan to remix, remix and remix because I won’t be shopping. I am going Shop Free for 3! It’s a Facebook group that I created and you are welcome to join. Just complete the contact form below and I’ll add you to the group.
Now, I should define my not shopping. I am planning to hold fast to my cash and save it for something special during 2017. But I may feature some new items {which I received in 2016} along the way from companies that I collaborate with on regular basis.
This is one of those posts from Rosegal featuring a gorgeous wine skirt. I had been a little winey {at least in my head} about not having something wine colored in my wardrobe. When I was given this skirt, I thought it perfectly added that rich wine jewel tone into my pieces.
Second, {next goal} is to remix my pieces more. And because I love to remix and have several basic capsule pieces in my wardrobe, I thought the new year would be a good time to create several looks. Six looks start here with a basic gingham blouse and wine skirt. Most capsule wardrobes recommend a gingham blouse.
For the second look, I put the blazer on to create a polished look for the office. This gorgeous A-Line skirt definitely works with these pieces and the booties. Since I’m short, I really need some heels to pull a midi skirt.
The third look is a jacket and boot change. Replacing the blazer with a denim jacket is a more relaxed look which called for tall boots. Although these pieces work, they might not be the best for someone who is short like me (5’2″). The skirt is a little full and long so it does need the balance of heels.
Look number four is back to a blazer with a little pattern mixing by adding a pop of leopard print.
The fifth look is just simple. Denim shirt with the wine skirt and felt the leopard print pop on the feet.
Finally, the last look is a color combo that I LOVE but I tend to shy away from wearing very often. It is a little loud for me and yet I love these colors together. Do you ever put together looks like that? You love them but feel a little strange wearing them out in public?
Did you notice that I did not change my accessories? I kept the same earrings and necklace for the first five looks. Why? Because less can be better and I want to convince myself of this…and maybe you too!
Well, friends, did you have a favorite look? If so, which one? Do you have a wine colored staple in your wardrobe? If you do, I hope this has inspired you!
