The Cable Knit Sweater & Link-Up

Well, I’m doing a little double duty today. I’ve got a post up at The Blended Blog but I thought what the heck…why not try to get a post here too. So, there you go. I got ‘er done!

Do you have fun when you walk in your closet? Does it inspire you or do you just feel overwhelmed? To be honest, for me it can be both. On days when I’m feeling inspired, I just want to try things on and create new looks but honestly that inspiration has been gone for a while. I think I’ve had too many other people in my head and been carrying guilt for purchases that aren’t really me.

Well, guess what? I’m thinking about packing up all that stuff and getting rid of it. Ok, not everything but you know what I mean. The things that I don’t wear and the things that don’t feel like me. I’m going to dress for me and love what I wear. Loving what I wear just gives me confidence. It’s all starting now….

The other day I had to pick up a little gift and on my journey I stopped in to Banana Republic Factory Store. I was so inspired by the pieces and colors that I saw for this spring. I just got excited about style again! As I looked around I knew I could create some similar looks from my own closet. I also started to think about what type of new pieces I would add for the next season that fit with the look I want to create. Excited about all of this!

I saw an outfit very similar to this one. The jacket in the store wasn’t camo but I thought a little pattern mixing would work.

I then was thinking I could easily wear this little cable knit sweater with other skirts in my closet. I want to wear more skirts to work so I should be putting some looks together for sure, right?!

What about a little grey skirt and red blazer? Yep, that works and it feels like me.

What about one more skirt with this sweater and booties too? Yep, I found another look that was inspired by the trip to Banana Republic Factory Store. I saw lots of pinks and blues and the tones were gorgeous!

That’s where I’m at friends. Creating outfits from my closet and looking forward to some new pieces for spring. Being Carrie is what I want to accomplish in my style this year. Oh, and I’m just not sure about scarves anymore. I wanted to try them in these looks but most days I opt out of them and choose jewelry instead. What’s your thoughts on scarves lately?

Be blessed! ~ Carrie

  • I love how you're celebrating your style! I for one have always been a fan! I find I wear less scarves than I used to, they just seem to get in the way, but I do love the way they look! Brooke pumps and push-ups
    • I think I'm putting the scarves away for now and moving on to cute jewelry.
  • It can be both exciting and overwhelming for me as well. I know I need to get better at organizing it and donating things I know I won't be wearing again. I love how you styled this sweater several different ways. They are all great looks! Sierra~Beautifully Candid
    • Thank you, Sierra! Getting those pieces out that I don't wear because they aren't me is helpful to curate my style better for sure.
  • I'm the same with scarves right now- totally over them and contemplating getting rid of them all. I love that you are embracing your style!
    • You were part of my inspiration. You said one time that you love everything you wear and it made me think...why don't I love what I wear. Answer: Because I'm not being me.

Oh I love these outfits! I have a similar sweater I need to try this with! For some reason I typically layer things under it, but not over top like you did with your jacket and blazer. Thanks for the inspiration!
    • Yay! So glad you were inspired, Laura!
  • I'm so bad at pattern mixing but I always love it on everyone when I see it. That 2nd outfit with the red jacket - that is ADOOOORABLE!!!
  • You look so cute in skirts!
  • Stacey Keeling

I have so many scarves that I never wear any more. I have plans to go through my closet next week and donate anything that didn't get worn last year. Love your style, especially the two blue skirts! Thanks for sharing with SYC. hugs, Jann
  • I love all of these looks. I can't wait until it's warmer where I live and I can wear dresses and skirts again. I recently sorted through all the clothes in my closet and got rid of a lot of stuff. There were so many items in there that I don't wear that it was cluttering up the closet and making it hard for me to even get to the clothes I do like.
  • I can't decide which outfit I like more...they are all so colorfully gorgeous!
  • I think cable sweaters are gorgeous and they never go out of fashion. I wish it were colder here in Australia so I could wear it more often!
  • I go through periods of inspiration and then where all I want to wear is jeans and a t shirt. I really like the first outfit with the camo and striped skirt. It's really cute and would be great for work! http://www.mylittlenest.org
