September Capsule Report

It’s my September Capsule Report for Week One. I’m already struggling with a love/hate relationship with my pieces and looks. When I picked my capsule pieces I intentionally chose some pieces that I knew I wouldn’t be wearing to work but I wanted to have some variety and versatility. I also wanted to create a well-rounded capsule. It seems I gravitate toward pieces and looks that are work appropriate for my office and can easily forget I do other things besides just work.

Looks 1 & 2 are casual looks that I could wear to work {with the sweater}.

These windowpane pants are one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. I’m excited that I have seen windowpane in stores this fall. I haven’t worn this cobalt tank with the pants before but it’s a look I loved immediately. Showing it here untucked and a front tuck. When I leave tops untucked they typically hit me in area that winds up being unflattering. I would wear this top tucked with these pants.

Unfortunately, my work environment is not suitable for this look but I had to have a pencil skirt in this capsule. This typically is an office look I would wear if I could. These pieces embody the professional side of me. I’ll keep the pencil skirt regardless whether I rarely wear it or not. A black pencil skirt is always a staple in about any wardrobe.

A chambray looks great with a black pencil skirt too. I added the leopard scarf for a little visual interest.

This look is perfect for my work environment. I never knew how much I would love camo pants until I added them to my wardrobe. I haven’t worn them with chambray until now and this is a perfect casual look. Although you can’t see my shoes, I’m wearing neutral heels. Skinny pants and heels looks great on all of us ladies.

Here I changed to flats for another option for this look.

This breezy windowpane tops is a year round favorite of mine. It’s perfect for summer as a solo piece and pairs well with sweaters and jackets for cooler seasons. I haven’t worn it with white jeans before this capsule. I added the leopard print flats for a little pattern mixing.

This look has been a favorite during the summer except my white bottoms were shorts and not skinny jeans.

That’s the looks for the first week. I haven’t worn all of these looks but am putting them together to encourage myself {and hopefully you} to get by with fewer pieces and create more.

Feel free to link up your looks and share them on Instagram using #septembercapsule for the hashtag.

Before I close this post, I have an exciting announcement. Drum roll, please….

7 great looks today. You are doing so well with this capsule challenge. I love that floral skirt, your short-sleeve chambray and of course those amazing tassel necklaces you own. The first two outfits and the one with the pencil skirt, chambray and scarf are my favorite. You remind me to get out my identical windowpane pants and start wearing them.
    • Yes, ma'am you better break out those windowpane pants. It's totally time!
  • dsimair
Ah! They are all so great, I can't even pick a favourite. Great fashionista-ing!
  • Oh my. Love, love, love. Great idea to cuff the camo. Gotta try that. The ON skirt outfit is just darling. So flirty. That long sleeve big cat print (I get my big cats mixed up) is so sophisticated. Oh my!!
    • Thanks, Leslie! Was trying to create different types of looks. Thanks for confirming that I did. Yay!
  • Because of you I am keeping my eye out for windowpane, either pants or top. I really like your first outfit: the tank and skirt. So pretty! But my favorite has to be the pencil skirt, leopard top and pearls! So classy!
    • I have always loved windowpane! Back in the 80's I had a gorgeous long blazer in cobalt blue with a windowpane print. Loved it then too! Kinda wish I still had it minus the shoulder pads...why did we have those in ALL of our clothing pieces??
      • Right? ALL of our clothing had them! I had quite the collection of blazers back on the day. It's funny how I'm starting to collect them again!
  • Casey
I love every single one of your looks, girl!!! If I had to choose a fave, I think it's the cobalt and windowpane!! Just love you in blue!!! Beautiful!! I know what you mean about the capsule, too! It's easy to get tired of it after awhile, especially if you like to shop! HA! XOXO
    • What's amazing about blue to me is that for quite a few years I had nothing blue in my closet. Amazing!! What was I thinking?? Thanks for stopping by!
  • You must not ever get rid of that pencil skirt. It's gorgeous on you!
    • For years I didn't own one but I realize that we should all have a similar skirt. It works for so many occasions. Thanks for stopping by, friend!
