Capsules by Cladwell + Link-Up

Hello, friends! How are you doing this holiday season? Truly, I hope you’re enjoying it. Remember to breathe in and live in the moments. Memories and moments are ranking higher in my life lately rather than stuff. And that explains where I am with my current wardrobe, so let me unwrap what’s up for today.

Well, I’ve been talking about what’s going on with my wardrobe lately and by that I mean the ongoing process of sorting through my clothing. I’m finding that I can have a deep attachment to my clothing one day and a different day I’m completely ready to let go of multiple pieces. Does that sound familiar to you? It’s amazing how often material things can move in and take up space in the heart, which is meant for greater things than all the stuff money can buy.

Yet, in among all those pieces I am uncovering some looks that I enjoy wearing. For example, this one. I featured a black v-neck sweater last week. Here’s a remix with it and a completely new look with pieces that are keepers. A little pattern mixing and I loved wearing this to work last week. Actually, I tried to get a little hip-hop dance party going because I felt a little sassy in those leopard print sneakers. I was vetoed!

As I narrow down my wardrobe, I am working toward a capsule type clothing lifestyle. When I first started to blog, I was quite intrigued with capsules but I got distracted by so many style bloggers and spent too much money trying to look like someone else. After facing my closet of pieces I didn’t like and didn’t wear and owning up to dollars spent frivolously, I am ready to move on.

Capsules by Cladwell is where I’m turning to these days to help me organize and stay focused. I recently signed up for their program and have been working through organizing and documenting my clothing library. Why is this important? It’s important to me to wear what I own, to love what I own and to be content with what I have because I have more than enough. It’s also important to me to do a little documenting and tracking of my wardrobe because I easily forget what great pieces I own. When that happens I tempted to shop and I just need some accountability to realign and reorient my attitude in that vein.

Two of my favorite bloggers have recently posted about this program. Caitlin at Greater than Rubies wrote this post {here} and Audrey at Putting Me Together wrote this post {here}. I hope those links will give you even more insight into why a capsule just might be right for you in 2016.

In 2016 I’m striving for a bigger life and a smaller wardrobe. The moments and memories as well as people is how I want to define this next year and not just excess clothing and stuff. What about you? Does that sound like something you’d be up for in 2016? Hope so! Join in and….Let’s go! Hello Capsules made with love by Cladwell.

Oh, one more thing before the link-up. I was really inspired by the Cladwell video and it prompted me to put together something different and special for Wednesday’s post. Hope you’ll stop by and check it out. I’m totally excited. Giddy excited and sitting here with a huge smile on my face because I’m ready to burst! So until Wednesday, I leave you with the link-up.

And since it’s Monday, it’s time for our link-up. Thanks to everyone who joined in last week. Whitney, Casey and I enjoyed reading your posts and searching for our favorite looks. Can’t wait to see what you lovely ladies link up this week.

Each week we choose a favorite…check out Casey & Whitney’s blogs to see if it’s you! My favorite this week is Brittany from Lawyer Look Book.  I just thought everything about this look worked! She featured a fab fur vest and that pop of pink and leopard print all came together creating a perfect look. Love it, Brittany! Hope you’ll stop by and visit her blog and read the post.

Camo cutie!!! Love them with the v-neck black sweater and leopard flats!! You're such a genuine cutie patootie!!
    • Thank you, sweet lady! Glad you stopped by.
  • This is such a fun look, I love the leopard sneakers with the camo pants--great mix of prints! I definitely understand and have the same feelings; I did a capsule wardrobe for a while and learned a lot from it. I'm not still following all the capsule "rules" but I am trying to shop smarter and with intention so I don't get overwhelmed by having too much again.
    • I think capsules can be hard but you really do learn a lot. I appreciate your input on this. I'm thinking my capsule by carrie might break a few rules. :) lol

Love the great casual look with the mix of patterns! Thank you for hosting and hope you are having a fab week! Alice Hope to see you Thursday for TBT Fashion link up.
    • Thanks, Alice! Glad you stopped by and I'll see you on Thursday.
  • Loving this look so much! Love the mix of patterns and textures. Such a cool, relaxed look. Mary
    • Thanks, Mary. A great compliment coming from you, my friend!
  • Darcy
Cute look! I don't think I could follow a capsule wardrobe haha!
    • Thanks, Darcy! I understand that totally!
  • Carrie, love the camo and leopard shoes combo, looks great and casually stylish. I have some slip ons I should wear soon too! jess xx
    • I really love the slip on sneakers. I didn't think I would but I have been so wrong on that!
  • I'm loving the camo pants mixed with the leopard shoes! The denim jacket finishes the look perfectly. It's also important to me to have items in my wardrobe that I actually wear, and should try documenting my wardrobe more! Rachael
    • I totally want to document so I can actually prove to myself how many looks I can create with less. It's my new challenge for 2016. :)
  • Casey
This is so exciting Carrie! I can't wait to see what you have in store. The capsule can be limiting, but it's also SO FREEING to wear what you love isn't it??!! You look so happy and I'll hip hop with you any day, my friend! (that would be pretty sad...but funny....and memorable..) XOXOXXO
    • We just might have to meet in the middle for a hip-hop dance party. We could so do it!
  • I definitely have to be in the right frame of mind when I clean out my closet, or I end up keeping everything. I'm excited to see where all of this takes you. I'm not ready for a capsule wardrobe yet! This is such a great outfit on you, and definitely looks like YOU!
    • That is such a part of the struggle...a fight back and forth with what to keep or not keep.

How do you keep it from being ridiculous? I mean, I followed the advice to add in all the stuff I do each week and ended up with a suggested five coats, five jackets, five sweaters, five sweatshirts...etc etc!! Do I need to just go back and pick one sort of activity per day and then just add in the extra stuff (like church for Sunday, homeschool group for Friday, ladies Bible study for Thursday, and call the other three at-home days...then add in the gym and date night for those sorts of things)? Cause I was putting all the possibilities for every day and it was a ridiculously huge amount of stuff!!
    • Oh no! Ridiculous is so not good! I would sort through your activities and narrow them down. For example, what activities are similar and where do you wear like items? For me, I can pretty much wear casual wear to work and in my personal life. I would lump those together because those pieces and looks would center around the same pieces. I would separate out more dressy activities. I'm working on a seasonal capsule but still want the ability to take some dressier pieces into it. Does that help? Does that make sense?
      • RaineyDaye
Yes...and honestly I can wear most of my out-of-the-house stuff all the same dressy-casual style. Sure, the park I might want to dress down a bit and Sunday morning dress up a bit...but my church is not big on dressing up, really. Even date night stuff is not really all that different...and this year my husband's company Christmas party was even dressy-casual. So I pretty much only have the dressy-casual style for outside the house and a "sloppy"-casual (but hopefully not too sloppy) for park days and at home (the stuff like graphic tees and jeans and sneakers type stuff). Beyond that it is one or two dressy occasions a YEAR and then the gym 1-3 times a week. I tend to only wear dresses for Sundays and weddings...skirts about 1/3 of the time and shorts or pants (depending on weather) the rest of the time. Guess I need to reassess my Cladwell stuff and see where I might can change it up a!!
      • What you're describing here sounds so much like my wardrobe/style. I think we were made to be friends! :)
  • OH I can't wait to see what you have in store for Wednesday! And the capsule wardrobe...I've heard and seen so much about it...and yes to the right frame of mind when cleaning a closet. There are things in there that I've had for years that I haven't worn... I keep every bridesmaid dress ever...

Love that outfit - I'd have joined in your dance party - leopard shoes make me a little funky/sassy too! Tea
    • YEAH! A fellow dance party gal.
  • Laura
I've tried camo and black before but found it too military looking, but your jean jacket breaks it up perfectly! I will have to give it another shot!
    • Yay! I hope you'll like it with the jacket.

  • I wouldn't say I have a capsule wardrobe by any means but I do have a relatively small wardrobe. I say relatively because I'm American and I know I have way more than a large percentage of the world! Thanks for challenging us! (And I just inherited a sweater from my son that's very similar to the one you're sporting here!)

  • Loving this mix of prints. Looking cute Carrie. Thank you for linking up to "Bloggers Who Have Inspired Me" Rachel xo
  • Camo pants are such a staple for me. They make every outfit cooler
