Hello, friends! I’m so excited today because Create28 Fall Looks starts now! Whitney, Casey and I will be taking turns featuring the looks listed on the daily prompts below. We will also be collaborating on some of the looks throughout the challenge. We hope you’ll be inspired and also participate with us! Please link up your looks on Mondays with our regular link up and/or post them on Instagram using the #Create28FallLooks hashtag. It seems like fall is finally arriving even though the temps are refusing to budge very much it’s just got to be fall in October. I’m going to just embrace fall regardless and celebrate with Create28 Fall Looks.
Our first prompt is featuring our Favorite Go-To Looks. My go-to look is typically something casual that I can wear to work and easily wear out for a laid back date night. Some of my favorite pieces that I wore often last fall were colored or patterned bottoms. I also had a couple of blouses and tops that seemed to appear in the laundry basket on a regular basis. Honestly, I have been waiting to pull these pieces back out and put them on because they are pieces that I love.
I would have to say that my favorite blouse is this polka dot which I purchased at Target. I featured it several times during my first Create28 last February. Here’s a couple of the looks.
Now that I’m pulling it out to wear again I want to create something new. This is the point and premise of Create28 anyway and why I started it earlier this year. I wanted to challenge myself. Here’s my new favorite go-to look utilizing the polka dot blouse. The skinny jeans are new I have to admit {50% off at The Limited Outlet and I couldn’t resist}.
As I put together this simple look, I was reminded how much certain types of pieces and colors boost my confidence. I remember that I also felt put-together when I wore this blouse. I think it’s the material and the size of the dots just make it stand out to me. These skinny jeans are one of my favorite colors. I really look best and feel best when I’m in the jewel tone family. Color plays a large part in confidence too. Wrong color choices that don’t compliment your skin tones seem to be draining on my over all view of myself. Does that make sense to you?
One reason I want to have at least one go-to look is to be able to put myself together quickly when I don’t know what to wear. Another reason is to use it as a building block for other looks. For this look I could add a scarf, jacket, vest, sweater to change the look. Shoes can be swapped out too. There you have multiple looks using just a couple of basic pieces. You can then use that formula with other favorite pieces and create multiple looks.
For this look I simply added a necklace and replaced the flats with heels.
Here’s another simple change. I changed the tassel necklace with pearls and went with black wedges. I also changed the belt to snakeskin to add another print.
In the end I want to learn to create many different looks using fewer pieces in order teach me contentment. I have been learning that I am not content with what is my closet. There is plenty in my closet but I ignore many pieces and refuse to take the time to create new looks because it can be easier to just buy something new. For me, that is just bad stewardship all the way around.
As I said earlier these pants are new. I purchased them because they were a good color for me and for my current wardrobe. They will definitely extend my ability to remix many of current pieces. Just in case you noticed, I think they might need to make the trip to get hemmed {along with that grey pair}. Short girl problems…always trying to figure out the perfect length and it’s trial and error.
