These Pants + Velvet

These pants. I do love them because they have an Audrey Hepburn feel to me. That’s a great place to start except I get hung up on what to wear with them. It seems like they are destined to always be paired with a black turtleneck. That is a fabulous look. I’ve done it before and featured it on the blog.

But I wanted to try something different. I tried this look earlier in the week and posted it on Instagram.
I’m working on wearing what’s in my closet {#frommycloset2017} and posting my daily looks with that hashtag. But I was thinking. The look from earlier in the week didn’t wow me because I felt as though the blouse was too long with these pants and my short torso. I started thinking about a top I received from Zaful. A little velvet number with gorgeous bell sleeves.
The proof is always in the pudding, right? We all create lots of looks in our heads but sometimes they don’t materialize that well. This look worked and I think that’s because the top is more fitted and shorter in length. Now, is it office appropriate? Maybe not but instead I’ve got a great look for a dinner date. These pants. I’ve discovered they are a little more versatile than I thought!
Oh and the back of this top…I’m crushing on it and that explains why this is date night look and not for the office. It might be a fabulous top for you too. Here’s the link from Zaful.
#frommycloset2017 is my journey to wear and remix what’s in my closet as well as feature great pieces which are gifted to me from Zaful. This post is sponsored by them but the ideas and opinions about this piece are mine.
I have to say this is my first velvet item and I think it’s a wonderful addition! Do you have velvet in your wardrobe? How do you wear it?
Have the BEST day!
Carrie

LOVE velvet and your top looks beautiful with the slacks! I have a collection of velvet tops/vests from over the years as it is one of my favorite fabrics. Now I have a new fashion idea right from my closet : ) Have a terrific Thursday sweet friend!
    • Thank you, sweet lady! So glad you stopped by today and love hearing about your velvet tops. This one has turned me into a believer!
  • That velvet top is divine. Wow (insert mouth drop)! I love how it looks with the pants and I think you are right about the length of the shirt being just bang on. I have pants like that, put away for the winter because it's way too cold around here for them, but I love matching them up with pink and I really liked your burgundy flats with them. Love the #frommycloset idea. bosbodaciousblog.blogspot.ca
