Here we are at the end of March. I think this is and end so to speak of winter even though the first day of Spring was a week ago and some of you still have snow on the ground. I like to have this be a time that I reflect on what worked during the winter season and what didn’t in terms of style.
I put my winter clothes away a little earlier than I had planned and that was simply due to the warm Winter and early Spring that happened in Texas this year. Maybe you’re in the middle of the transition as well or will be soon as the clothing must change with the seasons. I have found this a good time to reflect on my own personal style.
Tips to Define Your Style:
- What colors do you gravitate toward? Do they change drastically from Fall/Winter to Spring/Summer or is your palette similar?
- Do you prefer fitted/structured pieces or flowing pieces?
- Do you prefer solids/basics or prints/patterns?
- Are most days a “uniform” or is everyday different and based on your mood?
- What “look/looks” makes you feel confident?
These questions are just to get your thinking about what you typically grab from your closet to create a look. I found that when I kept a log on Instagram and created my own hashtag {#frommycloset2017} I saw firsthand what I was really in my closet. This helped me to understand me and my style. I honestly believe it’s one of the easiest ways to understand your style. A daily style diary of pictures that you can peruse through at any time is the way to go.
As you can see my style looks very much the same almost every day when I head off to work. Yes, I’m a little predictable {read A LOT}. The colors in my Fall/Winter wardrobe are very basic and I prefer fitted over flowing. I’ve always leaned toward solids but have a few patterns as well. I am a “uniform” girl. Truthfully, I feel confident in these type of looks. But what is my style? I’m really a CLASSIC girl. What helped to define that better was a Pinterest board idea that my friend Whitney created. Wardrobe Inspiration has been so beneficial and I’m thankful she passed on the idea to me. Unfortunately, the board would “take” in this post but you can click here to get there. The board includes all seasons of wardrobe inspiration that is mostly classic style. You can also click through the Create28 series to see quite a few classic looks that I’ve created over the seasons. You can also follow my Style Tips Board on Pinterest where you’ll find pins to help you on your journey.
If you click over to Whitney’s blog you’ll find that her style is different from mine. Today she’s discussing her style journey as well. We thought it would fun to work through this together and give you, our precious readers some variety in defining your style.
Well, bye-bye Winter and hello Spring! It seems Spring isn’t the longest of seasons but it’s time for a little freshing up with more color wouldn’t you agree? I’m off to start creating some looks for Spring will sheer gladness. I hope you’ll be embracing Spring in the same way!
As much as I love style and am passionate about looking polished and put together I am even more passionate about my faith. My dream for my blog has always been to share more of that with you. Well, I decided to take a little plunge as we are nearing the end of Lent. I thought I would write 10 short devotionals and share them via an email series beginning April 1st. I would love to have you on that journey with me. Interested? Please complete the form below and I’ll add you to the email list.
*It appears that my contact form might be a little wonky today - Please leave a comment and I’ll add you to the email list for the daily devotionals. So sorry about this but…well, technology!*
Have a beautiful day!
Hugs to you! ~ Carrie
