Happy first Friday of 2016! It’s also the first Whatever is Lovely of the new year. This first edition is dedicated to capsule wardrobes. If you haven’t been interested in a capsule wardrobe before, I hope you’re warming to the idea just a little bit. Although they may appear constricting, they really pose lots of benefits. With that thought in mind, I wanted to share some great blogs that have done capsules really well.
1. Un-fancy is great place to begin for starting a capsule, particularly if you are looking for easy casual looks. She hasn’t posted in a while but she has some great info and guides. I personally love her style and it resonates with me. Her style has actually given me some direction in understanding what I love to wear.
2. Greater than Rubies is written by friend Caitlin. She broke up with shopping for an entire year and totally learned how to remix her wardrobe + she created some 30 x 30 capsules. She’s a gem and one of the first bloggers I began to follow in the blog world.
3. The Lovely Laura Life has put together some awesome capsules too. I love her minimalist wardrobe for all seasons. Not gonna lie, I really like that idea but not sure it would work for me. I’m definitely intrigued by it though.
4. Leanne at Classy Yet Trendy has created an entire e-book of capsule wardrobe looks. The book features 29 pieces to create 85 looks. She has some great looks using pieces you might already own. If you need help and inspiration to put looks together rather than doing it on your own, she might just be your gal.
5. Project 333 has been really inspiring to me. I really think the idea of 33 pieces for 3 months is a fantastic idea. It actually inspired me to work on three-month capsules but not the 33 pieces only {yet}. There’s even a course if you want to enroll here. The Pinterest board is here.
Well, friends, could this be your year to try a capsule? Remember you can make it your own. You can determine your style, pieces and seasonal boundaries just like the bloggers above have done.
On another note, I know it’s hard not to shop for clothes in our consumer culture. But I am trying to do just that for the next three months (maybe longer). I started a Facebook group for a great supportive community. I think this is what a girl needs to make it through a break with shopping. Maybe you’d like to join the Facebook group Let’s Be Shop Free for 3 {taking baby steps with three months}. You can ask to join below.
Hope you have a great weekend, lovelies!
