Happy Friday! Happy Whatever is Lovely #22!
One of my goals this year is to learn something new each month. I realize my something new might take more than a month and one month might build on the previous but at the end of the year I want to have grown in knowledge and skill. So I’m trying to be intentional. I made a list with a a few ideas of what I’d like to learn:
- Calligraphy
- Chalk Lettering
- Knitting
- Photo Shop
- Photography
- Cooking
- Interior Design/DIY projects
I’ve done some research to find classes that might be offered online. The best thing is this - there are lots of places to go online and take a course for just a little bit of money or even free. Today I’m giving you a list to investigate for yourself.
A good friend told me about Lynda.com. They provide some great courses. My public library will allow me to access their classes for free. My suggestion is to check out your local public library and see if they may offer something similar. It’s a really great deal!
Skillshare.com provides lots of options for classes. There is a small monthly or yearly fee. I signed up for a discounted rate for three months to test the waters.
Nicole’s classes offers great options that would appeal to bloggers. They aren’t super expensive but a little more than I’d like to pay right now.
Several years ago a friend told my about Christy Tomlinson and her online art classes. She’s the one I’m going to when I’m ready to learn chalk lettering. My husband is creating an area in my office for me to have a chalk board. I’m so pumped about this!
Scarlet & Gold offered a calligraphy class online about a year ago. I missed it but I believe they will be offering another one soon. I’m on their mailing list so I’m anxiously awaiting word…this is like my number one this year. I want to learn pretty handwriting!
Tuts+ is helpful for the techie people wannabes {I’ve got a toe in that pond and want to go deeper}. They offer tutorials and online courses. You can get a free trial.
Udemy offers a variety of courses. You can find free ones and those that have a cost vary in price. They have quite a variety of options.
So there you go. Go learn something new today, tomorrow, this month but just do it this year. You’ll be glad you did!
Have a great weekend, friends!
