Currently: April 2018

First Wednesday of the month means it’s time for Currently with Anne in Residence. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this is one of my favorite posts every month. It’s short, sweet and fun plus I always find new bloggers to follow through this link-up. You should jump in on the fun if you haven’t already.

Showering ~ The skies have been showering here in Texas and I am anticipating more this month because you know - April Showers Bring May Flowers! Also, we always need rain in Texas this time of year because during the summer we might not see a drop for weeks and weeks. {And just in case you were wondering, I’m still showering daily- insert smiley face}.

Cultivating ~ I’m working on cultivating some little herbs. I bought some little pots at IKEA and planted some seeds in them. Put them on the window sill in the kitchen and they have all sprouted. All except the Rosemary, which is a bummer to me because I love that herb. When they are a little big and stronger, I’m going to take them outside and replant in flower boxes. Super excited about this!

Expecting ~ Not really except I can say what I wasn’t expecting. Last week I posted about a group book that I participated in which was finally launched. I wasn’t prepared for the all the kindness and encouragement I received. I was totally so surprised by the outpouring. Then I had quite a few people who also wanted to purchase the book. Unexpected! So sweet and so humbling!

Buying ~ I feel as though I’ve been buying everything including the kitchen sink. Ok, I did buy a kitchen sink and new countertops with a new backsplash. Oh yes, and appliances and rugs…Kitchen update has been completed. Super excited about this one!

Cooking ~ In the last week there has been little cooking going on in our torn up kitchen. However, there has been more than enough salad to go around.

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be co-hosting with Anne next month and the prompts will be celebrating, creating, wearing, sharing, and going. Hope to see you next month too!

Have the best day!

Be blessed ~ Carrie

The kitchen update sounds like fun - it's like childbirth. Painful while it's happening but so worth it when it's done! xo, Kellyann
    • That is a perfect analogy, Kellyann!
  • Living on Cloud Nine
I love Herbs!! I am so ready for teh rain to change to sunny warm skies!! You are sunshine!
    • You are going to have the most fab summer in your new home!
  • Wahhhhh we're having April snow as we speak! I'd take rain over this any day. Hopefully we'll all get those May flowers either way :) And ooooh are you going to share the kitchen makeover?! So fun! (Except the part where you can't cook for a while during renovations - that gets old, I know.)
    • I hope y'all get spring soooon! I know it's been crazy up north.
  • A kitchen update is so fun, and how nice that you'll have some herbs to cook with in your new kitchen too! We've had some April showers this week too, although I hear we're getting SNOW showers on Friday... I think my face will be showered with tears when that happens, ha! :)
    • Boo to the snow for sure. C'mon it's April already and time for Spring, right?!
  • I've enjoyed the little glimpses on IG of your kitchen remodel. Congrats again on the book! That's so wonderful!
    • I'll be posting more soon. Can't wait to share.

How fun that you are growing herbs. I have thought about trying to do that myself but I just don't have a green thumb and am scared I will fail. Silly, right? Ohhh... how fun to be doing a kitchen update!!!!
    • I don't have a green thumb either, so I thought I would start small!
  • Love seeing your kitchen come together!
  • A tore up kitchen just effects every part of life. UGHHH... cant wait to see pics of the finished look
    • I'll be posting soon! I'm so excited about it.
  • What a fun post, Carrie!! And the kitchen sink---hilarious!! I wonder how that whole saying got started?? XOXO Jodie www.jtouchofstyle.com
    • I should Google it and find out. Thank you, Jodie!
  • You crack me up with your daily showers and buying the kitchen sink :) I'm happy that you are having a good month, my friend!
  • shootingstarsmag
Hah! I love that you actually bought a kitchen sink!! :) Lots of rain - and even some more snow - in my forecast. I'd like some nicer days! -Lauren www.shootingstarsmag.net
    • Yep, we literally did buy a new sink. LOL
  • Love your joke about the kitchen sink. All this Tx rain is making everything so green!
    • It will green for awhile and then you know...brownish.

Such a great post - full of giggles. Thanks for sharing on To Grandma's House We Go!

I'm envious of your April showers.....here in Wisconsin we received lots of April snow! Anyway, it's my first stop by your fun blog and I'll be back.
    • I've heard y'all have had the LONGEST winter ever and it's not stopping.
  • That’s too bad about the rosemary! Do you have any friends with a rosemary plant? It actually does really well if you cut a little branch and then stick it in a pot of dirt! More often than it it will root! If you lived near me I’d give you one!
    • I guess I might need to make a trip to Florida and get some from you.
  • I feel like I have been buying everything lately too! We got new a fridge and stove, the kids all needed new spring clothes and new sneakers...
    • It seems like it never ends sometimes.

Looks like you have had a busy week.

Fun post! I enjoyed rreading about what you have been up to. Thanks for sharing with SYC. Jann Jann
  • I love this idea and I am totally going to join you ladies. First Wednesday of the month? IN my calendar. Kitchen remodels are not cheap but they make a world of difference to the home. I am getting more into little projects these days but for a long time I wanted to see no construction around the house, I think it's because we lived in upgrades for like 2 years when the girls were little. Carrie, I do want a copy of that book still I just have to get my life organized and I will send you a message. bosbodaciousblog.blogspot.ca
    • Yay! Can't wait to read your Currently next month. No worries on the book. Message me whenever you are ready.
  • Roseann Hampton
I love growing herbs. They seem to do well on my porch so they get a little shade. And the rain here in Texas has been nice especially since it has been keeping the temperatures a little cooler!
    • Where in Texas are you?
      • Roseann Hampton
I live north of Houston in The Woodlands area.
  • You've reminded me that we need to get our vegetable starts growing! Can't wait to see the new kitchen.
    • I'll post soon. Waiting on the cabinet repaint to be finished.
  • I lost both of my large Rosemary bushes this winter due to the severe cold...and I'm seriously sad about it. I can't wait till it gets warm enough to finally plant some new ones! Thanks for sharing "Currently" on Friday Frenzy!
    • I'm going to give Rosemary another try. We'll see what happens.
      • I find that buying the larger bushes works out best...they live but the smaller plants usually die. I also plant them in the actual ground, not in a pot! They are gorgeous and smell amazing. They do die about every three years when we get seriously cold weather though.
  • P~
This is so great! Thanks so much for joining us on Friday Frenzy! P~
  • So many wonderful things going on in your life, Carrie! So excited for you and the book release. :) Cannot wait to see your kitchen reveal! I am thinking I would like a kitchen herb garden and you are inspiring me to get on it. Thanks so much for linking up!
  • I LOVE your April graphic! Hope you have been enjoying your new kitchen! Yay! Maybe by now you can cook and feel at home again!
