Dots & Leopard + Link-up

Hello friends! Good morning to Monday and if you’re like me it’s back to work again. I hope you’re rested and refreshed from the weekend. Guess what? Spring has officially begun {on the books anyway} but I know it’s not springy everywhere yet. We even had some cool temps and had to crank the heat back on this weekend. Oh, March you never fail to bring weather surprises.

So what I have for you today is a look from last year that represents a lesser true style for me than a current look I’m also featuring. Both incorporate denim, a silky top and a cardigan with leopard print shoes. Both have been worn in the month of March but only one really fits my true style. First up is from last year and if I remember correctly I was feeling a little under the weather when we took this photos.

I did keep all of these pieces during my purging except the scarf. I’m not sure if that was smart or not but I remember thinking it didn’t hang correctly when swooped around my neck once and was too bulky for two swoops. Hopefully, someone is enjoying it because it won’t be me. I’m a tad sad about it too.

Onto this March and a look that is a little more casual and a whole lot more me.

Why is this look better {in my opinion} than the first look? This look has definite direction. In this look I know what I’m trying to achieve or convey. It is casual with a little menswear flair while still being feminine. There is a softness with the blouse and the subtle dots work well with the leopard print sneakers. There is pattern mixing but not overly loud. A pop of color also adds some interest and keeps the look from being boring. Actually, this is a look I have gone to several times during the winter season. It’s easy to create variety here by simply changing the color of cardigan. I have worn blue, green, grey and purple cardigans.

Do either of these looks gravitate toward you and your style? Are you more a trouser or skinny jeans type of person? Do you like to keep your colors closely similar or do you prefer a pop of color? What about pattern mixing - subtle or bold? Would love to hear your thoughts!

I wanted to share a little moment of gratitude today. I’m ever so thankful for honest and decent people. Yep, they are out there and one crossed our path this weekend. We decided to sell our dresser and night stands and advertised on Craig’s List. After removing all of our clothing items a lady came by to pick them up on Friday evening. On Saturday she called to say that she found my Social Security card in one of the drawers. For sure, I do remember putting in my sock and underwear drawer. Why? Now that I don’t remember. She said she would pop it in the mail that day. Unbelievable! Of all things you don’t want a stranger to have, right? So thankful for her honesty. I am very grateful that it did not wind up in the hands of someone who would have used it to harm me. What are you grateful this past week? Hope you’ll stop by and see what others are posting and be encouraged! I’m linking up with my friend Shaunacey for Monday Moments of Gratitude. Please stop by and visit Simply Shaunacey to hear what she’s featuring today.

And since it’s Monday, it’s time for our link-up. Thanks to everyone who joined in last week. Whitney and I enjoyed reading your posts and searching for our favorite looks. Can’t wait to see what you lovely ladies link up this week.

Each week we choose a favorite…check out Whitney’s blogs to see if it’s you! My favorite last week was a post by Sarah at Foxy’s Domestic Side. So glad she linked up! This bright pink graphic tee paired with the soft pink skirt is a perfect combo. The addition of those sandals - to die for, lady! I was totally inspired by this look. I hope you’ll stop by and read her post here.

The most clicked look was Andrea at Living on Cloud Nine. She looks fabulous as well. You ladies with gorgeous leopard print shoes are tempting me! You can read her post here.

Just a reminder: I’ll be linking up again with my blogging buddies on Wednesday for Style Perspectives. Please join in! Again, The Blended Blog is hosting this style challenge and I will be participating each week. The prompts are listed below and you can see my style here each Wednesday and how others style the prompt on The Blended Blog. Hope you’ll join in and share your looks on Instagram and Twitter with the hashtag #theblendedblogstyle . It should be a blast!

I don’t always link up but when I do here’s where you’ll find me linking up.

Carrie, you just always look so put together. I'm a big fan of both of these outfits! I'm typically more of a skinny jean girl, but I love how professionally casual the first outfit looks (if that makes sense?). However, I do love the vibe that the second look conveys- there's a certain confidence with it. :)
