Fall Transition + Link-up

Hello, friends! Hope you had a restful weekend and were able to enjoy some time away from the workplace. It was a low-key weekend but one I thoroughly needed with some quiet time to allow my heart to reflect on recent life events. Sometimes in the busyness and complicated times of life I just need to step back, step off the wheel and take an assessment of many things. Reflection time is refreshing to me. What about you?

As seasons change I think that also brings a time for reflection. I have been studying my wardrobe and reflecting on style during this time of transition. So this has been a fabulous opportunity to extend some of my spring or summer pieces. There are a few tops that I wore over and over again this past summer. My breezy tees were the favorites I reached for more times than I’d like to confess. I’ve featured some of them on the blog too. Here’s my two favorites.

Plaid Breezy Top

Dotted Breezy Top

Why did I reach for them so often? Ease, comfy and the ability to mix patterns and an assortment of colored bottoms with which they easily paired.

How can they can transition into fall? I found a couple easy options in my closet. My first look features the little polka dot tee. It’s easy to pattern mix because the print is quite small. Here I’ve mixed it with stripes and leopard print. It could easily mix with a variety of colored {and some patterned} cardigans too. I chose boot cut jeans instead of colored bottoms. I would wear this with olive, burgundy, purple or grey bottoms as well.

Although I featured the windowpane tee earlier this summer, I wanted to share a striped tee for fall transition today. Again I mixed patterns but added a pop of muted color in the raspberry flats.

Fall Transition

This striped tee could be worn under a variety of cardigans, jackets or vests. It would also work with colored bottoms like a mentioned above.

Fall Transition + Pattern Mixing

For these looks I chose 3/4 length cardigans because in Texas this is a nice transition. I’m still trying to determine how I actually feel about them. I really don’t like them when they stretch out at the elbow but I think I’m still a fan of a few short-sleeved and 3/4 sleeved cardigans. They are good options.

  • I agree, Carrie, that taking time to be still and reflect on our lives is critical to our well-being. It is all too easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and lose sight of what's really important. Hope your time of reflection brought you peace. As always, your style is right on point. Love how you've carried your tops forward into fall. Both are perfect with your cardigans! Really pretty! xox-M http://marymurnane.com
